8 <br /> <br />The Environmental Coordinator and Environment Board reviewed the tree preservation <br />and landscaping requirements. The following comments are from the updated April 26, <br />2023 Environmental Board staff report. Additional comments are provided below in the <br />attached May 1, 2023 June 1, 2023 memo. <br /> <br />A tree survey was performed that identified: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The applicant’s updated tree survey indicates 47 mitigation trees will be required. The <br />Basic Use Area should include 20 feet outside of the fence on the east building perimeter <br />as well. This reduces the total number of mitigation trees required to 34. <br /> <br />Of the 10 trees that are categorized as “Saved”, 8 are invasive species (Siberian elm) and <br />2 are not on the current project site. These trees will not provide existing tree credit. <br /> <br />32 trees planted in open space around buildings and ponds will also qualify as mitigation <br />trees. There an additional 2 mitigation trees required to meet the standard. Two <br />additional trees have been added. <br /> <br />Tree preservation and mitigation standards have not been met. <br /> <br />Open Areas Landscape Standards <br /> <br />Required for 40,000 square feet of open space: 16 large trees <br /> 32 large shrubs <br /> <br />Provided: 33 large trees <br />56 large shrubs <br />Open Areas Landscape Standards have been met. <br /> <br />Buffer and Screen Standards <br /> <br />The buffer and screen standards call for a 30-inch double triangulated row of plants for <br />the north parking lot perimeter. <br /> <br />There are 36 large shrubs planned for the north parking lot perimeter. These shrubs are <br />in a double triangulated row. <br /> <br />Buffer and Screen Standards have been met. <br /> <br />Canopy Cover <br /> <br />Total Trees 141 <br />Total Trees Removed 131 <br />Total Trees Saved 10
