6. Review Draft Master Plan Bunker-Chain of Lakes Regional Trail <br /> Introduction <br /> Karen Blaska is the Park Planner for the Anoka County Parks and Recreation <br /> Department. She is presenting the updated Master Plan for the Bunker Chain of Lakes <br /> Regional Trail. <br /> Mrs. Blaska stated that the County has seven Regional Parks, one Park Reserve and <br /> ten Regional Trails. The Regional Parks and Trails are part of the Metropolitan <br /> Council's Regional Parks and Open Space System,'the County is required to have <br /> Master Plans for any of the Regional Facilities. The last few years Mrs. Blaska has <br /> been working to keep the Master Plans for the County Trails up-to-date. The Bunker <br /> Chain of Lakes Regional Trail has nowcome up for review. <br /> Description of Trail and Proposed Sections <br /> The Bunker Chain of Lakes 1s aproposed regional trail that is about 14.5 miles long <br /> that connects the cities of Blaine, Lnio:Lakes, an&Centerville. This portion of the trail <br /> will connect the Regional Park at Bunker Hills with the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes <br /> Regional Park Reserve It will also connect the East Anoka County Regional Trail and <br /> the Central Anoka County,Regional TraiLad the R1ce;Creek North Regional Trail. A <br /> large portion of the trail included in this IVlaster Plan is completed and existing today. <br /> However,there arerthree=small sections that still needs to be completed which <br /> measures approxlmately three miles of trails; One section that needs to be completed <br /> is located m1,`ino Lakes <br /> Ms .Blaska presented;map illustrations of the trail Master Plan(see attached <br /> supporting documents),. She explained that the trail now goes through Blaine from <br /> Bunker Hills Regional Park by the Blaine High School along the south side of County <br /> Rd 14 to Alierdeen Street. From there it is proposed to be completed to Cloud Drive. <br /> It now follows Cloud.Drive through_the Lakes development connecting up to the city <br /> parks through the lakes and then it leads toward Lexington Ave. Currently, the <br /> section east of the East Lake Park in Blaine and over to Lexington Ave is a proposed <br /> section. To complete this section, Mrs. Blaska stated that the County is working with <br /> the City of Blaine and a Developer to get that portion of the trail installed. This will <br /> connect the residents in the Lakes Development to the new Blaine Sports Complex on <br /> Lexington Ave. <br /> Park Board Minutes <br /> August 3,2015 <br /> Page 12 <br />
