CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 1H <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jolleen Chaika, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: December 11, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Consider Approval of Resolution 23-136, Approving Permits for <br />the Centerville Lions Ice Fishing Contest <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Centerville Lions host an annual Ice Fishing contest on Centerville Lake each winter. The <br />contestants, volunteers, and observers enter and exit the lake via access which lies within the <br />City of Lino Lakes; thus, permits are required. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The applicant is proposing to host the annual contest on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 11:00 <br />AM – 2 PM. Set-up is scheduled for the day before, February 16, 2024 at noon. Lions club <br />members and other community volunteers will be on hand to assist with clean-up. Food and <br />beverages will be available for purchase and staff has verified that the Lions Club has a valid <br />Temporary Food and Beverage Establishment License issued by Anoka County to allow food <br />service. <br />The following applications have been received: <br />-Special Event Permit Application <br />-Temporary On-Sale Liquor License Application <br />-Exempt Gambling Permit (Raffle) <br />The applications have been reviewed by staff, including the Public Safety Department. No <br />concerns have been brought forward. <br />A Certificate of Insurance has been submitted by the Centerville Lions Club to the City for <br />this event. <br />The complete applications are on file and available for review in the City Clerk’s office. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve Resolution No. 23-135 authorizing issuance of Special Event Permit, approval of a <br />129
