Environmental Board <br /> December 27,2023 <br /> Page 3 <br /> In 2022, Lino Lakes residents used approximately 80 gallons of water per person per day. <br /> The average in Minnesota is 52 gallons per person per day. In an effort to conserve <br /> freshwater resources, the City has initiated the Drive for 75 outreach campaign. <br /> The Board discussed strategies to encourage the community to conserve water. <br /> Chair Sullivan suggested the possibility of putting a table up with educational materials at <br /> Blue Heron Days as well as submitting an article in the Quad newspaper. <br /> Mr. Nelson mentioned the water usage calculator on the City we e that ents can <br /> use to estimate their indoor and outdoor water usage. <br /> Ms. Cavegn suggested changing how the meter reading the water eads s ce it <br /> can be misleading to residents regarding the units of uch water th tually <br /> using. For example, under"Cons" says 20 and tha n be r td re 'de regarding <br /> just how much water they are using every quarter. " cons' be mis ding, however <br /> "20,000 gallons consumed" is clearer. <br /> Chair Sullivan also suggested bringing water bil tional workshops so that <br /> residents could better understand w ' means. <br /> Ms. Cavegn also suggested educati 1 outreach signage for residential yards with native <br /> plantings, and mentioned th wns egumes program that offers grant funds for <br /> native plantings. <br /> Mr. Nelson respon hat d mote this grant program on the City website <br /> and social medi I <br /> Mr. Nelso tinned that staff w d look into updates for the water conservation <br /> section the webpage. <br /> Ms. Buchm sked if regents who receive their water bills electronically get the <br /> smart irrigatio ntroller ads that the City sent out with utility bills in the mail; she will <br /> check and let the Board know at the next meeting. <br /> 8. AD <br /> Ms. Bu eier made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 p.m. Motion was seconded <br /> by Ms. avegn.
