<br />WS – Item 11 <br />WORK SESSION STAFF REPORT <br />Work Session Item No. 11 <br /> <br /> <br />Date: February 5, 2018 <br /> <br />To: City Council <br /> <br />From: Jeff Karlson <br /> <br />Re: Community Room Expansion and Renovation <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Now that the audio/visual upgrade in the Council Chambers and Master Control Room is <br />nearly complete, staff has turned its attention to the Community Room. Staff is asking <br />the City Council to consider expanding and renovation the room prior to the installation <br />of new audio/visual equipment. <br /> <br />New Creations Child Care Center is leasing all but around 300 square feet of space in <br />what was former the Early Childhood Family Learning Center. This space is directly <br />behind the back wall of the Community Room. Knocking out this wall would expand the <br />room by 255 square feet, and there would be an additional 45 square feet for a storage <br />closet. The space is currently being used to store voting equipment and election supplies. <br /> <br />If the Council is supportive of this proposal, staff would obtain cost estimates for the <br />renovation before obtaining bids for audio visual equipment. Funds for the project would <br />come out of the Cable TV Reserve Fund. <br /> <br />Requested Council Direction <br /> <br />Consider moving forward with cost estimates for the expansion and renovation of the <br />Community Room.
