CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br />MEETING DATE: February 12, 2018 <br />TOPIC: Sale of Fire Apparatus <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting Council authorization sell a 1995 <br />Custom Fire Rescue Pumper (1FDYS82E2SVA72033) to the Central Lakes Fire Department <br />(CLFD) for $30,000.00. <br />BACKGROUND <br />During the 2017 fire apparatus discussions, it was decided to sell both 1995 Fire Custom Fire <br />Rescue Pumpers. On July 24, 2017, the Council authorized the sale of one of the 1995 Fire <br />Custom Fire Rescue Pumpers to Ellsburg Volunteer Fire Department for $33,500.00. <br />Staff listed the other fire engine on six fire industry sites and the League of MN Cities website. <br />Since the sale of the first engine in July of 2017, staff has had two inquires on this fire engine. <br />Attached to this staff report is a letter from CLFD Fire Chief Jason Doughty providing the <br />details of their offer and their organization. <br />CLFD is offering the City of Lino Lakes $30,000.00 for the purchase of 1995 Custom Fire <br />Rescue Pumper contingent upon a current fire pump certification. <br />It should be noted that the City of Lino Lakes purchased this piece of apparatus from the City <br />of Woodbury in 2014 at a cost of $15,000.00, installed upgraded emergency lighting and <br />graphics for a total investment of $28,285.65. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the sale of the 1995 Custom Fire Rescue Pumper <br />(1FDYS82E2SVA72033) for $30,000.00 and deposit the proceeds from the sale of this fire <br />apparatus into the Fire Apparatus Replacement Fund. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Central Lakes Fire Department letter, dated February 8, 2018 <br />Photo of 1995 Custom Fire Rescue Pumper
