<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: February 6, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Katie Larsen, City Planner <br /> <br />FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br /> <br />RE: Nature’s Refuge - Park Board Discussion <br /> <br /> <br />The Park Board discussed the Nature’s Refuge development at their February 5, 2018 <br />meeting. The following summarizes the Park Board’s recommendation related to park <br />dedication fees, parks, and trails: <br /> <br />• The Parks, Natural Open Space/Greenways and Trails System Plan does not <br />identify a new park in this area. Recommend collecting park dedication fees <br />rather than land for a neighborhood park, and explore options to working with <br />the Forest Lake School District to provide funding for enhancements to the <br />outdoors at Lino Lakes Elementary. Representatives from Lino Lakes Elementary <br />attended the meeting and were excited to further explore this potential <br />partnership. <br />• The linear trail corridor was well received. Assuming the Forest Lake School <br />District is interested in receiving funding, the trail connection to school district <br />property could occur behind Lot 12, eliminating the need for the trail directly <br />behind Lots 13, 14, 15, and 16. <br />• Placement of a paved trail along the north side of Main Street from Wood Duck <br />Trail to Lino Lakes Elementary School should be planned for and installed as <br />funds become available. <br /> <br />
