CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Bartholomew, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: March 12, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Temporary Increase of Office Specialist Hours <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The City Council is being asked to temporarily increase the hours of the Public Services Office <br />Specialist to full-time while there remains a vacancy within the Administrative Assistant <br />position. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Administrative Assistant resigned on February 20th . The Public Services department is <br />preparing for its busy season and staff is having a difficult time absorbing the workload of a full- <br />time support staff member. The Office Specialist works part-time (24 hours a week). Increasing <br />the Office Specialist’s hours to full-time will help alleviate some of the workload. <br /> <br />Temporarily increasing the part-time Office Specialist’s hours will have no impact on the budget <br />given the City is not paying wages for a full-time Administrative Assistant. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve temporarily increasing the Office Specialist’s hours to full-time while there remains a <br />vacancy within the Administrative Assistant position. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
