CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3B <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Bartholomew, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: June 11, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Paid On-Call Fire Lieutenant <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Mr. Craig Menne for the Paid On-Call <br />Fire Lieutenant position at Fire Station 2. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Previous Fire Lieutenant, Mark Hokkanen, was promoted to one of our District Fire Chief <br />positions, creating a vacancy. At this time, staff has completed an internal recruitment process, <br />provided a conditional offer, and is recommending the approval of Craig Menne for the Fire <br />Lieutenant position. <br /> <br />Mr. Menne has been a member of the Lino Lakes’ Public Safety Fire team for over a year <br />serving as a Firefighter/ EMT, and has over fourteen years of experience. <br /> <br />The hourly rate of pay would remain the same for Menne. However, he would now receive a <br />monthly stipend of $225 as a Lieutenant. With the Council’s approval, Menne would start in the <br />position of Fire Lieutenant on June 15, 2018. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the appointment of Craig Menne for the Fire Lieutenant position at Fire Station 2. <br />
