CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: October 28, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Public Works Maintenance <br />Worker <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Christopher Heck to the full-time <br />Streets Maintenance Worker position within the Public Works Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of Heck for the full-time position. <br />Heck is currently working as a Carpenter at Welsh Construction. He has over 15 years of <br />relevant experience. <br />The starting wage for Heck will be $32.43 per hour, which is Step 3 in a 6 step wage scale for <br />the Maintenance Worker position. <br />With the Council's approval, Heck would start in the Utilities Maintenance Worker position on <br />November 12, 2024. <br />The hiring of Heck will backfill the Streets Maintenance Worker vacancy that was created due <br />to a resignation on August 9, 2024. The 2024 Adopted Budget includes five full-time Streets <br />Maintenance Worker positions. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Christopher Heck to the Streets Maintenance Worker <br />position. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
