CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: November 12, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Interim City Administrator and Approval of <br />Employment Agreement <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of the Interim City Administrator position <br />and the associated Employment Agreement. <br />BACKGROUND <br />City Administrator Sarah Cotton will be resigning from the City effective November 15, 2024. To <br />facilitate a seamless transition, staff recommends the interim appointment of David Pecchia to the <br />position of Interim City Administrator until a permanent replacement can be identified and appointed by <br />the Council. <br />Pecchia has over 35 years in public safety and community service experience. He served as the Lino <br />Lakes' Public Safety Director and Police Chief from 1993-2010. He served as the Interim City <br />Administrator for the City of Lino Lakes in 1998. He was also the Executive Director of the MN Chiefs of <br />Police Association from 2010-2013. <br />With the Council's approval, Pecchia would start in the position of Interim City Administrator on <br />November 18, 2024. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the appointment of David Pecchia for the Interim City Administrator position and the <br />associated Employment Agreement. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Employment Agreement <br />
