CITY COUNCIL <br />REGULAR MEETING STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br />MEETING DATE: March 24, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Public Hearing: Consider Resolution 25-36 Adopting Special <br />Assessments, 2025 Street Reconstruction and Sewer and Water <br />Extension, Pine Haven <br />VOTE REQUIRED: None <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is to hold a Public Hearing on proposed assessments for the 2025 Street <br />Reconstruction and Municipal Sewer and Water Extension Project for the Pine Haven <br />neighborhood. Following the Public Hearing, Council may consider adopting the assessments. <br />Background <br />The City Council approved the Feasibility Study for the 2025 Street Reconstruction and Sewer <br />and Water Extension Project on June 10, 2024. Council then held a public hearing for the <br />installation of sanitary sewer and watermain in the Pine Haven neighborhood on July 22, 2024. <br />After the public hearing there was a 60 day petition period. There were no valid petitions <br />against the project submitted. On December 9, 2024 Council ordered the project, approved the <br />plans and specifications and authorized the ad for bid. <br />On February 24, 2025 the City Council approved Resolution No. 25-25 declaring costs to be <br />assessed and Resolution No. 25-26 calling the hearing on the proposed assessment for the 2025 <br />Street Reconstruction and Sewer and Water Extension Project for the Pine Haven <br />neighborhood. <br />Bids were received for the 2025 Street Reconstruction and Sewer and Water Extension project <br />on February 11, 2025. The sanitary sewer and water construction costs as bid for the Pine <br />Haven neighborhood were $1,286,558.00. The feasibility study estimated construction cost <br />was $1,188,520.00. The 8% increase falls within the project contingencies and planned budgets. <br />The total sanitary sewer and water project cost with contingencies and overhead for Pine <br />Haven is $1,604,530.00.
