The following sections cover staff <br />attrition, new officer training duration, the estimated cost to hire and train new officers, current job <br />openings for police officers, law enforcement education and skills enrollment data, historical hiring <br />data, staffing shortages and its impacts on response times, stacked calls, and officer wellness. <br />STAFF ATTRITION <br />Police staff evaluated internal staffing trends so that opportunities for improvement could be <br />identifled and targeted strategies could be developed to retain and recruit officers. <br />Since 2019, a total of 22 officers have left the police division (Annex C). The officers have left for a <br />variety of reasons including left for other police departments (11), resigned (8), or retired (3).
