CITY COUNCIL <br />STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA ITEM 5.113. <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Dan L'Allier, Fire Chief <br />MEETING DATE June 23, 2025 <br />AGENDA ITEM: Consider Appointment of Paid On -Call Firefighter <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The City Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Cody Kanowitz to the Paid On - <br />Call Firefighter position within the Fire Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer and is recommending <br />the approval of Kanowitz for the Paid On -Call position. <br />Kanowitz will be stationed at Fire Station 1. Currently the city has 11 firefighters at Fire Station <br />1 and 14 firefighters at Fire Station 2. Fully staffed would be twenty firefighters at each station. <br />The starting wage for Kanowitz will be $22.44 per hour, which is Step 1 of a 5 step wage scale <br />for the Paid On -Call Firefighting position. <br />With the Council's approval, Kanowitz would start in the position on June 30, 2025. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Cody Kanowitz to the Paid On -Call Firefighter position. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />Page 95 of 142 <br />
