Page 22 <br /> <br />SECTION 6: LEAVES <br /> <br />6.1 Holidays <br />Regular full-time employees are entitled to the paid holidays listed in the table below. Part- <br />time, temporary, and seasonal employees are not entitled to holiday pay. <br />New Year’s Day Juneteenth Thanksgiving Day <br />Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Independence Day Day after Thanksgiving <br />President's Day Labor Day Christmas Eve Day <br />Memorial Day Veteran’s Day Christmas Day <br /> New Year’s Eve Day <br /> <br />When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is considered the holiday. When a <br />holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday is considered a holiday. In order to be eligible <br />for paid holidays, employees must work on the day before and the day after such holiday, <br />unless on paid leave. <br />Rookery Activity Center employees who are required to work on a holiday recognized by the <br />City will accrue a floating holiday to be used within the same pay period. Use of a floating <br />holiday outside of the pay period accrued, requires approval from the City Administrator. <br />Accrued floating holidays are not paid out at time of separation. <br />Part-time firefighters who work a holiday shift shall be compensated at two times the <br />employee's base rate of pay. Part-time firefighters must bid for a holiday shift and will be <br />approved based on the last 90 day work period of hours worked. If two part-time firefighters <br />have the same total of hours worked in the previous 90 days, seniority will be used to <br />determine which part-time firefighter will pick shifts first. If a holiday shift is not taken, the shift <br />will be assigned to the lowest hours worked employee from the last 90 day work period. This <br />applies only to the holidays recognized by the City and are listed in the table above. <br /> <br />6.2 Sick Leave/Earned Sick and Safe Time <br />Sick Leave/Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) is paid leave employees can use when an employee <br />is sick, to care for a sick family member or to seek assistance if an employee or their family <br />member has experienced domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking. <br />Full-time, part-time, and temporary employees (including seasonal and interns) are eligible for <br />ESST. <br /> <br />A. Earned Sick and Safe Time for Part-time and Temporary Employees <br />For all part-time and temporary employees, Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) is accrued at one <br />hour for every 30 hours worked by an employee, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year. <br /> <br />Page 83 of 166
