JOSIE VALERIUS #30 MRS.ANDRZEJEWSKI
D.A.R.E.
;.3o,,, \
Do people, including kids, know what choice they are
making and risk they are taking when they choose to
smoke and drink? Well, it's about time for both kids
and adults to know! Marijuana can be addictive, so if
you start it's really hard to stop. Officer Young has
taught 5th graders humorous and easy ways to say no,
which is a good way out if my classmates or I get in
any drug or smoking pressure situations. Lots of people
knew before we started D.A.R.E that alcohol is illegal
under the age of 21. Sadly, people even under the age
of high school, ignore the law and choose drink anyway.
They get poor judgement, have slow reflexes, and lose
self control. I have learned to say no to offers, and
vow not to drink until I'm 21. In the end, it's all up
to you to make the right decision;to say yes or no.
Thanks to D.A.R.E. I' m sure everyone who was in it can
make the right choice.
Do people know what risk they are putting
themselves in when they take drugs and smoke? Maybe
not. But now we do. I don't know if you knew this, but
around forty- thousand - three - hundred people die each
year from smoking and breathing other peoples smoke.
Smokers practically throw away other peoples lives,
maybe even theirs, from smoking. Did you know that 92%
of eight graders don't smoke? Well, that's awesome. The
other 8 %? All I can say is wow. They are a role model
