JOSIE VALERIUS #30 MRS.ANDRZEJEWSKI
for lot's of younger kids and just showed them what not
to do. Good job to the other 92 %! They are the REAL
role models. From a survey of 100, 20 eight graders
have had alcohol at least once in the last 30 days.
What do they think they are doing? Breaking the law and
showing the kids the wrong thing to do. Apparently so.
I will NOT be one of those 8th graders. And yes, some
8th graders, teenagers, and adults aren't the best role
models for anyone. But I know we will change that.
We know how scary drugs and smoking is, thanks to
D.A.R.E. If you really think about it, if you end up
smoking or drinking, family and friends could slowly
turn away from you, not wanting to be a close family
member or friend to a person like that. The more and
more they turn, the more and more depression or
loneliness you could feel. D.A.R.E. helps us make the
right choices and relationships. Lots of schools have
this class, one that is fun and important at the same
time. Officer Young, I will never forget your wives
story. It has made all of the D.A.R.E. facts true and
clear. Saying no the non - violent way is a good thing to
know but a hard thing for parents to teach their kids.
If I have kids, I'll know the right thing to say and
teach because of D.A.R.E. Yes, saying no and not
getting punched in the nose for it is a good skill for
us to know. And some of the important things like
knowing how bad and dangerous drugs and smoking are, we
all know now. The sad but true and amazingly horrible
facts are in our minds, our lives, and making sure that
we keep ourselves safe and sound. The facts keep us
away from drugs, smoking, and violence. I, Josie
