• • • SECTION 6: ATTENDANCE AND LEAVES 6.1 Holidays Regular full -time and part-time employees are entitled to the holidays described herein. Part- time employees received a prorata amount based on the number of hours worked each week. Temporary employees are not entitled to holiday pay. New Years' Day Martin Luther King, Jr. Day President's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Day Day after Thanksgiving Christmas Eve Day Christmas Day New Year's Eve Day When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is considered the holiday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday is considered a holiday. In order to be eligible for paid holidays, employees must work on the day before and the day after such holiday, unless on paid leave. 6.2 Vacation Leave Vacation leave with pay is available to eligible employees to provide opportunities for rest, relaxation, and personal pursuits. No employee shall be permitted to waive such leave for the purpose of receiving double pay. Probationary and regular full -time employees earn paid vacation time according to the following schedule. Probationary employees may not take vacation during their probationary period without prior approval of the department director.
