CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JANUARY 5, 2005 <br />APPROVED <br />1 ADVISORY BOARD APPLICANT INTERVIEW SCHEDULE, PROCESS, <br />2 GORDON HEITKE <br />3 <br />4 City Administrator Heitke indicated he had previously polled the Council regarding the <br />5 schedule and process of advisory board applicants. Staff had suggested every applicant <br />6 in competitive positions be interviewed. Staff also asked the Council if they would like <br />7 to interview incumbents when there is not a competitive position. The response from the <br />8 Council was split. Interviewing incumbents when there is not a competitive position will <br />9 result in only one additional interview. There are fourteen applicants to interview and the <br />10 process should be determined before the applicant information is distributed. <br />11 <br />12 It was the consensus of the Council to interview all applicants for advisory boards. <br />13 Council directed staff to schedule interviews immediately after the Council work sessions <br />14 on January 19 and February 9. The regular Council work sessions on those dates will <br />15 begin at 5:00 p.m. <br />16 <br />17 REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS <br />18 <br />19 Item 9, Community Calendar — Council directed staff to confirm a joint meeting with the <br />20 City of Hugo on January 20, 2005, 7:00 p.m. <br />21 <br />22 Item 3A, First Meeting of the Year Appointments — Council noted the following changes <br />23 and recommendations: <br />24 <br />25 Acting Mayor Dan Stoltz <br />26 <br />27 YMCA Board No appointment until financial agreements <br />28 are finalized <br />29 <br />30 Centennial Fire Steering Remove Dan Stoltz and add <br />31 Committee Donna Carlson <br />32 <br />33 Data Practices Official Ann Blair <br />34 <br />35 Council directed staff to check on the County Corrections Program and Joint Law <br />36 Enforcement appointments. Council also asked staff to get a recommendation from <br />37 Finance Director Rolek on the Legal Depositories and the possibility of adding Bank of <br />38 the West. <br />39 <br />40 Council suggested a discussion be scheduled regarding Council liaisons to City Boards as <br />41 well as the responsibilities of the appointed liaisons. <br />42 <br />43 There were no other changes to the regular agenda. <br />44 <br />3 <br />
