2000 -2005 GOALS /OBJECTIVES <br />GOAL ONE <br />Minimize the residential tax burden by raising the commercial /retail/ <br />industrial tax bases. <br />1. OBJECTIVE <br />Develop an Economic Development Plan for the City of Lino Lakes through <br />2005 that corresponds to the draft Comprehensive Plan's commercial /industrial <br />objectives. <br />2. OBJECTIVE <br />Annually update a one -year Action Plan component of the Five -Year Economic <br />Development Plan. <br />3. OBJECTIVE <br />Identify opportunities within the draft Comprehensive Plan for future <br />commercial and industrial growth and initiate planning procedures to manage <br />future growth for the betterment of the community. <br />GOAL TWO <br />Continue a strong and innovative pattern for the growth of quality economic <br />development within the City of Lino Lakes. <br />1. OBJECTIVE <br />Continue an active economic development process to discover new business <br />opportunities. <br />2. OBJECTIVE <br />Focus city financial and professional staff resources to enable Lino Lakes to <br />effectively pursue quality economic development opportunities within a <br />competitive business environment. <br />3. OBJECTIVE <br />Prioritize economic development efforts to ensure that the city's financial <br />commitment in infrastructure, staff time and incentives produces the strongest <br />commercial /industrial tax base, widest range of goods and services and high <br />quality development that will meet the needs of future generations. <br />4. OBJECTIVE <br />Support the growth and well being of existing businesses in Lino Lakes. <br />5. OBJECTIVE <br />Continue the effort to maintain an area wide reputation for being receptive and <br />responsive to new quality economic development. <br />POLICY RECOMMENDATION: Recognizing the strong regional competition for <br />commercial development, aggressively pursue financial options to promote the <br />development of the Town Center as the highest priority commercial site in the city. <br />(See Financial Tools; Attachment B) <br />1 <br />
