STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />AGENDA ITEM 6C <br />Michael Grochala <br />December 12, 2005 <br />Consideration of Resolution No. 05 -197 <br />Approving Joint Powers Agreement with Anoka <br />County for the Improvements of CSAH 14 from <br />I -35E to Elmcrest Avenue <br />ACTION REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND <br />Anoka County in cooperation with Washington County, Lino Lakes and Hugo is <br />preparing to award contracts for the reconstruction of County State Aid Highway (CSAH <br />14) from I -35E to Trunk Highway 61. The project includes the installation of traffic <br />signals at the intersection of CSAH 14 and Otter Lake Road. <br />Construction of the project will begin in spring 2006. The Joint Powers Agreement <br />(JPA) setforth the responsibilities of the city and county as well as the cost sharing for <br />the project. Anoka County has provided a credit of $22,443.40 towards landscaping of <br />the median areas on the project. The City's total share of the $9.3 million project is <br />estimated at $184,078.25. The City's share of project costs will be funded by a <br />combination of state aid and trunk utility funds. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff is recommending approval of the JPA with Anoka County. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
