These photos were taken of the site this summer to demonstrate the significant existing screening that separates the Superl site from adjacent residential. In fact, the site will meet all of the buffering requirements set forth in the City's zoning ordinance for outdoor storage as a principle use of property (Section 8.1.K.1). At your August work session, the Council concurred that you are interested in helping a viable business to remain in the City and referred us to the Planning and Zoning Board recommending a code amendment to allow outdoor storage as an interim use. As we came through that process, three members of the Planning Commission supported the amendment as did the majority of the Economic Development Advisory Committee. At your last meeting, you requested further discussion of the amendment. Discussion Lakes Building Components, Inc. ( "Lakes ") is a growing start-up business in your community. In March, this manufacturer of wooden trusses started with only three employees. By mid - summer, employment had reached 15, and now is over 20 employees. Clearly, there is strong demand for this use in what was a mostly vacant building in your community.
