They said it could be something simple or you could use the same as the oath of office. The point seems to be
to ensure that the laws are followed when canvassing. Since the council is constituted as a separate board for the
purpose of the canvass, they should take an oath as to the duties of that board.
The standard oath is:
"I, (name) do solemnly swear to support the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of
Minnesota, and to discharge faithfully the duties of the office of (insert brief description of office) of the city of (insert
city), Minnesota, to the best of my judgment and ability, so help me God."
Jeannette Bach 1 Research Manager
Tel: 651 - 281 -1223 1 Fax: 651 - 215 -4123
jbachCalmc.orq 1 www.lmc.orq
League of Minnesota Cities
145 University Ave. West l St. Paul, MN 55103
Connecting & Innovating Since 1913
Stay connected with the League of Minnesota Cities:
I Web Facebook Twitter 4.4, Bloo
From: City of Ottertail tmailto:otcity(&lakesplus.coml
Sent: Monday, November 01, 2010 3:56 PM
To: Clerk /Administrators
Subject: [clerk - admins] Oath of Canvassing
1
