• <br />• <br />• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />AGENDA ITEM NO. 6A <br />Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br />January 14, 2002 <br />Consideration of Receiving Bids and Awarding <br />Playground Equipment, Clearwater Creek Park <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On Thursday, December 20, 2001, bids were opened for the Clearwater Creek Park <br />playground equipment project. Three proposals were submitted. The playground <br />equipment proposals were on display at City Hall the week of January 3 - 8, 2002. <br />Neighborhood residents and Park Board Members were invited to review the proposals, <br />make comments, and provide input on the selection of the project. <br />Residents overwhelmingly chose Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground Proposal #1. Staff <br />met with interested residents on January 9th to make final decisions such as color <br />selection. Staff feels this proposal will work well at Clearwater Creek Park. <br />It is my recommendation to award the Clearwater Creek Playground Equipment Project <br />to Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground. <br />It is anticipated to install the playground equipment in April - May with area residents, a <br />certified playground installer, and park maintenance staff. <br />The funding for this project is the Outdoor Recreation Grant that the city was awarded in <br />2001. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Receive bids and award Clearwater Creek Playground Equipment Project to <br />Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground in the amount of $40,000. <br />2.
