February 7, 2002
Along the way, city staff worked with Jeff Schoenbauer from Brauer and Associates,
to develop a master plan of the site. After a thorough review by members of the
Referendum 2002 Committee, representatives of user groups, and Park Board
members, the development plan includes the following:
• 5 Full Size Soccer /Football Fields
• 4 Full Size Softball Fields
• 3 Little League/Youth Baseball fields
• 2 Girl's Softball Fields
• Skate Park Facility & Rink for Inline Skating (both used for ice hockey in the
winter)
• 2 Tennis Courts
• Full Size Basketball Court
• Internal Trails
• Playground Equipment
• Multi Purpose Building for Concessions, Restrooms, and Storage
A copy of the current development plan of the recreation complex is attached.
Neighborhoods Parks
A successful bond referendum will provide significant dollars to develop new parks
and enhance existing parks. Thirteen existing neighborhood parks will be enhanced
with various amenities and three undeveloped parks will be completely developed
per the approved master plans. I have attached an itemized list of the planned
neighborhood park improvements. Meetings are scheduled the week of April 8th for
residents who have a particular neighborhood park of interest to review and
comment on the proposed improvements.
Construction of Trails
The third component of the bond referendum is establishing additional trails
throughout the city. The purpose of the trail system is to provide functional
pedestrian and bicycle linkages throughout the parks system. I have attached the
proposed trails included in the referendum.
How to Obtain More Information
In addition to the neighborhood park meetings the week of April 8th, the "Referendum
2002" Committee is working on various ways for the residents of Lino Lakes to
obtain specific information related to this important bond referendum including:
Video Presentation - The video presentation provides information on the history of
the referendum, specific content of the referendum, and additional information such
as commonly asked questions, tax impacts, etc. The video presentation will be run
on Local Cable Channel 16, and at various community meetings.
