• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 14, 2002 <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Oaths of Office for Board Members, Bill Hawkins <br />City Attorney Hawkins performed the swearing -in ceremony for the appointments of City Board <br />Members. <br />Mayor Bergeson extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Board Members. He indicated <br />that the Board Members not present this evening could be sworn in at a later date. He noted Sharon <br />Lane, a re- appointed member of the Planning and Zoning Board, had been present earlier this evening <br />but left because today is her birthday. He wished her a happy birthday. <br />Annual Appointments, Dan Tesch — Administration Director Tesch advised each year the City <br />Council is required to make a number of appointments. Appointments of individuals to advisory <br />boards have been approved. Included in the staff report is aelist of appointments that still need to be <br />made. He noted the list showed the appointments for the ye& 2001 and the proposed appointments <br />for 2002, some of which were the prerogative of the zty Co nctl to name. <br />Mayor Bergeson noted Councilmember Dahl had askec <br />addressed separately from the remaining appointment <br />Mayor Bergeson noted item 13, the appointment' <br />to correctly designate Councilmember Jeff Reine <br />e appointment of Acting Mayor be <br />y Corrections for 2001, should be amended <br />Councilmember Dahl stated eve , s that -she stands for win -win situations and/or <br />compromises. She stated would li, a balance on the Council and, as long as there is a male <br />Mayor, she would like the Actin • ayor e a female. She noted former Mayor Sullivan had <br />appointed a male Councilmember to se`` as Acting Mayor. She indicated she had discussed this <br />issue with Mayor Bergeson and had indicated she did not care whether she or the other female <br />Councilmember serves as Acting Mayor, providing the position is filled by a female. She stated she <br />was not concerned with the notion of majority or minority, rather she wished for the Council to be <br />balanced. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated during the last Council work session there had been proposals for two <br />different individuals to serve as Acting Mayor for 2002. He asked that a motion be made for this <br />appointment. <br />Councilmember Carlson noted Mayor Bergeson had made such a motion at the recent Council work <br />session and suggested he make that motion now. <br />Mayor Bergeson moved to appoint Jeff Reinert as Acting Mayor for 2002. Councilmember <br />O'Donnell seconded the motion. <br />
