AGENDA ITEM 4A <br />STAFF MEMBER Daniel Tesch, Director of Administration <br />DATE 8 April 2002 <br />SUBJECT Conditional Offer for Youth Resource Officer <br />VOTE REQUIRED 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On 20 March 2002, the city was notified that it will be receiving a COPS in Schools grant award <br />for 1 new, full -time officer at an estimated cost of $125,000.00. This is a three -year grant and <br />applies to salaries and benefits for an officer hired after 1 March 2002. <br />As we promote from the ranks of our Community Service Officers (CSO), a tentative offer of <br />employment will be made to Jessica Halloran, our senior CSO. The appointment will be <br />conditioned upon successful completion of a physical and psychiatric exam. <br />Resolution No. 02 -31 provides for the Youth Resource Officer position. If approved, the Officer <br />will be placed in the Centennial School District's new Blue Heron Elementary. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve Resolution No. 02 -31, authorizing the hiring of Jessica Halloran as full -time <br />officer/Youth Resource Officer. <br />2. Not approve the hiring. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Number One <br />• <br />
