CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 17, 2002 <br />• take the appropriate action. The grant would help take care of a lot of problems but the <br />restoration of the creek is only one part of that. <br />Mayor Bergeson advised the District to work with staff to prepare a formal letter of <br />support for the project. <br />COPS MORE — FEDERAL MATCHING FUNDS GRANT, SERGEANT KENT <br />STREGE <br />Officer Kent Strege advised the Council he would like to update them on the COPS <br />MORE grant. He stated the Department applied for the grant last year to be used for <br />patrol cars and software. The Department did not get the entire grant that was requested. <br />The Department has been asked to reapply for the grant. The City's match for the grant <br />would be $4,288. That amount is in the budget if the Department does receive the grant. <br />If the grant is received, the purchase of additional software and hardware will allow the <br />Department to continue its expansion into the area of making information more easily <br />accessible to officers while they are in their squad cars. That would allow the officers to <br />stay out among the public as much as possible during their shifts. <br />SET DATE FOR SPECIAL MEETING FOR CANVASS OF SPECIAL <br />ELECTION, ANN BLAIR <br />City Clerk Blair advised the Council they have to canvass the special election that is <br />scheduled on April 27, 2002. The Council has to canvass the election within one week of <br />the election. She asked the Council to schedule a meeting time to canvass the election <br />noting the meeting would be very brief. <br />Councilmember O'Donnell stated he will not be available the first part of the week after <br />the special election. He added he is very comfortable with the rest of the Council meeting <br />in his absence. <br />Mayor Bergeson stated he would prefer to canvass the election sooner than later because <br />of the interest in the referendum. <br />City Clerk Blair stated the results of the referendum can be announced before the Council <br />has the meeting. <br />It was the consensus of the Council to schedule the Canvass of Special Election meeting <br />on Wednesday, May 1, 2002, 5:00 p.m. <br />UPDATE ON DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS TASK FORCE, JEFF SMYSER <br />AND MIKE GROCHALA <br />City Planner Smyser distributed information regarding the Ordinance Revision process. <br />The task force has been working on the subdivision ordinance.
