• • COUNCIL MINUTES APRIL 22, 2002 CITY OF LINO LAKES MINUTES DATE : April 22, 2002 TIME STARTED : 6:33 P.M. TIME ENDED : 7:42 P.M. MEMBERS PRESENT : Carlson, Dahl, O'Donnell, Reinert, and Mayor Bergeson MEMBERS ABSENT : None Staff members present: City Administrator, Linda Waite Smith; Administration Director, Dan Tesch (part); City Attorney, Bill Hawkins; Chief of Police, Dave Pecchia (part); Community Development Director, Mike Grochala; City Planner, Jeff Smyser; City Engineer, Jim Studenski; and City Clerk, Ann Blair Mayor Bergeson advised the regular Council meeting will begin for a short introduction and then the meeting will be recessed for the Board of Review. The Council meeting will be reconvened immediately after the Board of Review meeting Senator Michele Bachman, District 52, Introduction — Senator Michele Bachman came forward and stated the state has released their new plan for voting districts. Lino Lakes is now the most westerly city in the district. She listed the cities within the new district noting the district is now very large. The good news is that the state has been able to keep the faith with the cities, counties and school districts. There are currently no tax cuts being considered for the cities. She stated the state is now looking at how the deficits will be dealt with for the next two years. The state is however, in pretty good shape financially. She added she will meet with any of the Councilmembers personally and looks forward to working with the City of Lino Lakes. She noted she is very impressed with the new City Hall facilities. Mayor Bergeson thanked Senator Bachman for attending the meeting. He recessed the regular Council meeting at 6:40 p.m. for the Board of Review meeting. BOARD OF REVIEW Mayor Bergeson called the Board of Review meeting to order at 6:41 p.m. He stated the County Assessor is present to answer questions and take comments from residents. Ms. Linda Wiener, Anoka County Assessor, came forward and stated she is the residential assessor for the City of Lino Lakes. A commercial assessor is also present to address any concerns or questions. She stated information packets were distributed to the Council and noted there was a 14.2% increase in residential sales within the City during 2001. The purpose of the meeting is to review property valuations. She added that one letter was received from a resident that was not able to be present this evening. She excused herself from the meeting to review property taxes with a resident. 1
