•
COUNCIL MINUTES APRIL 22, 2002
Ms. Wiener returned to the meeting and stated the County has set up an appointment with Mr. Bruce
Hansen to view his property tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Hansen will then get notice of the County's
decision and he can attend the Board of Review at the County if he still has any concerns.
Ms. Wiener advised she received a letter from Mr. Edmund Seekno and noted she will forward a copy
of the letter to the City. Mr. Seekno indicated he does not feel his property should be valued at
$123,000 because the property is on Main Street and there is a lot of traffic. The letter also indicated
he now has a moisture problem in his basement because of the development that was done behind his
home. The County did give him a 5% reduction in his property valuation because of the moisture
problem. Mr. Seekno did obtain an appraisal that indicated the home is valued at $129,000. That
value was crossed out and the value of $115,000 — 120,000 was written in on the appraisal form. Ms.
Wiener advised she called the real estate company and they indicated the written value was what the
property owner would receive after the company took out their fee to sell the property. Ms. Wiener
stated other property valuations were taken in the area and it is possible the valued amount of
$123,000 is even too low. The County is recommending the value stay at $123,000. The Board of
Review must determine if the recommendation is approved.
Mayor Bergeson stated that unless any Councilmember has an issue with the property in question, the
valuation of $123,000 will stand.
• Ms. Wiener asked if the City has received any other letters from residents.
City Administrator Waite Smith advised the City has not received any letters from residents regarding
this issue.
Ms. Wiener asked for signatures from each of the Councilmembers and thanked them noting it was a
pleasure to work in Lino Lakes. She stated there is a lot of information available from the County and
if she can help the City in any way please contact her.
Mayor Bergeson requested Ms. Wiener distribute her business card to the Council. He asked if the
County is still on a four year cycle of reassessing properties.
Ms. Wiener indicated the County is still on a four year cycle.
Councilmember Dahl moved to close the Board of Review meeting at 6:57 p.m. Councilmember
Reinert seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Bergeson reconvened the regular Council meeting at 7:00 p.m.
SETTING THE AGENDA
Item 4D, Consider Joint Resolution with Cities of Hugo and Centerville about Interchange 35E and
• CSAH 14 (Lino Lakes Resolution No. 02 — 39), was added to the agenda
2
