• • Policy: Computer System & Internet Use Approved: 13 March 2000 Effective Date: 13 March 2000 Resolution: 2000 -27 Location: Personnel Policy — Section A. Purpose The purpose of this policy is to protect the security and integrity of the city's information systems and to provide employees with standards of behavior when using the computer system. B. Scope This policy is applicable to all persons who operate any of the city's computer equipment. C. Use of System The information system at the City of Lino Lakes shall be used to conduct city business. No personal use of the system is allowed during working hours. Employees are allowed to use the computer system during non - business hours, as the city believes employees will benefit from practice with computers. Permission for personal use must be obtained by the employee's department director. Personal use of the city's computer system for any purposes which results in personal profit or pecuniary gain, or for any purpose which requires storage capacity for any length of time, is not allowed. Users should log -off the system at the end of each day. This will prevent unauthorized use of the system, which may be attributed to the employee and protects the city's system and data. All information developed on, or introduced to the city's computer system is the property of the City of Lino Lakes, regardless of where it was created. Likewise, all information developed by a Lino Lakes employee on computers outside our system, if in conjunction with their employment with the city, is the property of the City of Lino Lakes.
