Town Center Standards
August 14, 2000
page 2
• One element is the rezoning of the Town Center area. Our intent has been to rezone
the areas currently zoned SC Shopping Center and LB Limited Business. (A rezoning
is an amendment to the zoning ordinance, because the zoning map is part of the
ordinance.)
• The other element is the development standards for the new district. Every zoning
district has its own subsection in the zoning ordinance that lists the standards for that
district. The Town Center standards we've been discussing will be the subsection for
the Town Center zoning district.
State statute as well as our zoning ordinance regulate how to process a zoning
amendment. Approval of a zoning amendment requires a 4/5 vote of the City Council.
The two earliest possible schedules are listed below. Staff intends to schedule the
hearing for the September P & Z meeting. We plan to finish refining the Town Center
standards in time for that meeting.
latest date to send notice to
newspaper
August 23
September 20
mail notice to property owners
flexible
flexible
notice published in paper
August 29
September 26
public hearing at P & Z
September 13
October 11
City Council action
September 25
October 23
OPTIONS
1.
