AGENDA ITEM 7C
STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer
COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 28, 2000
TOPIC: CSAH 49 Update
VOTE REQUIRED: No action required
BACKGROUND:
On August 16, 2000, the City Council held a special Work Session to discuss the
proposed reconstruction of Hodgson Road from County Road J to Lake Drive.
Based on the City Council's discussion, staff has attempted to prepare a list of
key issues to be addressed by Anoka County as follows:
1. Can the roadway section be limited to a width of 52 feet? 62 feet?
2. Can the number of lanes be phased in over time?
3. Can the speed limit be reduced to 45 mph?
4. How will the roadway transition occur from Anoka to Ramsey County
at County Road J? Will signals be installed?
5. Is limiting the right -of -way to 100 feet in width feasible?
6. Other issues?
I have also verified that a "hotline" can be setup with a message to provide the
latest information to interested parties.
The idea of a Task Force is to be discussed in more detail by the City Council at
the August 23 Work Session.
