Variance to reduce the side yard setbacks at 8001 Lake Drive, Miller’s On <br />Main <br /> <br />Michael Grochala, Community Development Director , presented the staff report. Staff <br />recommended approval of the variance to the side yard setbacks at 8001 Lake Drive. <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala noted that bids were opened and the city awarded a contr act for the signal <br />project at Lake Dr./Main St. and Birch St./Ware Rd . Staff explained that on -street <br />parking w ould be eliminated from the Miller’s site as part of the project. <br /> <br />Staff reviewed the scope of the signal project at Lake/Main. Board members a sked if the <br />city’s police department could assist with traffic control at this location during times of <br />necessity. Mr. Grochala stated that the contractor will be responsible for all traffic <br />control during the construction period. <br /> <br />Qui n n Bergman, 990 Lo is L ane, explained that he is the son -in -law of Lyle Carpenter <br />who owns the property to the north . Mr. Bergman stated concern that often times there <br />are trailers parked along the side lot line , so he requested that curb stops be installed <br />along the north edge of the property to avoid encroach ing onto Mr. Carpenter’s property. <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala added that staff does not foresee any major issues with the new parking lot <br />design. <br /> <br />Mr . Laden made a MOTION to recommend approval of the Variance to the side yard <br />set backs at 8001 Lake Drive , with a recommendation that curb stops be added along the <br />north and south parking lo t lines. <br /> <br />Motion was supported by Mr. Masonick . Motion carried 6 – 0 . <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala informed the board that , with the cooperation of property owne rs, <br />pedestrian crossings and sidewalks from 77 th street were added to the project to improve <br />safety. <br /> <br />B. PUBLIC HEARING to consider Amending the Conditional Use Permit at 6221 <br />Holly Drive to allow for expansion of the existing satellite communications <br />facilit y <br /> <br />Mr. Grochala p resented the staff report. Sta ff recommended approval of C .U .P . <br />amendment at 6221 Holly Drive . Mr. Grochala noted that t he applicant is no longer <br />pro po sing a solid barrier wall as stated in the staff report . <br /> <br />Applicant, John Palmer, Enc ompass Digital Media, stated that the removal of dirt wa s <br />nearly complete and 2/3 of the berm ha d been reduced to the desired grade. He noted that <br />the process was delayed because new recipients were needed to take the dirt. T hey <br />decided against removing the entire berm as originally intended. They also decided <br />against removing an additional berm in an area that attracts deer to their site . Mr. Palmer
