STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />AGENDA ITEM NO. 3 C <br />Dan Tesch, Director of Administration <br />December 11, 2000 <br />Consideration of Hiring General Maintenance Worker — <br />Streets Department <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />With the approval of item 3B, I am recommending that Mr. Jim Blackbird be considered for the <br />vacant General Maintenance - Streets position. Mr. Blackbird began his employment with the <br />City of Lino Lakes on April 17, 2000. He has shown a tremendous work ethic and is capable of <br />performing a variety of tasks. Mr. Blackbird's past work experiences have included operating <br />light and heavy equipment, paving, patching, seal coating, and dirt work. Also, he has <br />demonstrated his competency in welding, equipment repair, construction, and landscaping. <br />Mr. Blackbird is available to begin tomorrow, December 12, 2000. Mr. Blackbird's beginning <br />• salary is $15.93 per hour plus benefits. This position will be eligible for membership in the <br />49'ers Union. A physical examination and drug test will be required prior to Mr. Blackbird's <br />becoming a full time employee. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve the hiring of Mr. Jim Blackbird as General Maintenance - Streets Employee, <br />contingent upon successful completion of drug test and physical examination. <br />2.
