MEETING DATE: February 26, 2001 <br />TOPIC: SECOND READING: Ordinance 03 -01 <br />Rezone City Hall Park From Rural To <br />Public Semi - Public To Allow for <br />Qwest Wireless PCS Tower <br />ACTION REQUIRED: 4/5 vote <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City Council approved the first reading of Ordinance 03 -01 on February 12, 2001. This is <br />the second reading. After approval of the second reading, the ordinance will be published in the <br />newspaper. The ordinance becomes effective 30 days after the publication date. <br />To summarize, Qwest proposes to construct a 135 -foot high tower for antennas for wireless <br />telephone service. Such towers are not allowed in the Rural zoning district. City Hall Park <br />currently is zoned Rural. Towers are allowed in a PSP Public Semi - Public district. Qwest has <br />requested rezoning City Hall Park to PSP. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve the second reading of Ordinance 03 -01 rezoning City Hall Park and adjacent City <br />property to Public Semi - Public. <br />2. Return to staff with direction. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option 1. <br />
