AGENDA ITEM 7B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: April 23, 2001 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 00 -58, Receiving Study for the 2002/2003 Street <br />Reconstruction Projects <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In order to initiate the process for construction of the next street reconstruction <br />projects, the City must first select the roadways to be included in the projects. <br />To properly prioritize the roadways, the City needs to consider whether or not the <br />roadways have sanitary sewer and water. If not, we should evaluate the <br />necessity, and timeline, for installation in the future. The purpose of the study is <br />to re -rank the roadways after incorporating utility service and need issues. <br />The re- prioritization study will be completed and submitted to the City Council on <br />Monday evening. No action is requested on Monday except to receive the study. <br />This study will be used to select the roadway segments to be re- constructed in <br />2002 and 2003. The initiation of detailed feasibility studies on the roadway <br />segments slated for reconstruction will be brought to the City Council for <br />consideration on May 14, 2001. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution No. 00 -58, Receiving the Re- prioritization Study for the <br />2002/2003 Street Reconstruction Projects. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends that Resolution No. 00 -58 be adopted. <br />
