The storm pipe is being put in on the west side of the
property so there is no practi purpose for draining the pond. The kids enjoy the pond very much.
There was a lot of concern at one point about the sediment but that has been resolved. The
elimination of the pond would cause a loss of landscaping, property value, and a beautiful area that is
very appreciated. He stated every map he has seen shows it as a wetland and he does not want to lose
the pond. The pond was drained twice this year. He added he is aware that the water table does
determine the level of the pond. He stated that if the pond is drained, he would like to the City to
relinquish all claims to the drainage easement. He stated many residents in the area will be affected if
the pond is drained.
Mr. Kevin Backen, 6498 Tomahawk Trail, stated he does not want water in his neighbor's basement
but the plan serves no purpose. He suggested drain tiles be installed to take care of Mr. Beckman. He
stated he fishes in the pond and uses it for skating in the winter. He indicated he does realize there are
problems with the water table but does not think they are due to the pond. The City Engineer has
18
•
•
•
