AGENDA ITEM 7H <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: James E. Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: January 12, 2004 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 04 -08, Authorizing Preparation of Plans and <br />Specifications for Holly Drive Street. Reconstruction. <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Due to the continued development and growth of the area increasing the traffic <br />on this roadway and the deteriorating condition of 12th Avenue and Holly Drive <br />between Ash Street and Birch Street, the City Council order a feasibility study for <br />the reconstruction of the street. The report was received at the October 28, <br />2002 Council meeting. <br />This segment of roadway is designated as a Municipal State Aid Street and <br />serves as a minor collector within the City's Comprehensive Transportation Plan. <br />The feasibility proposed the improvements to be performed in three phases. The <br />first phase is from Holly Court to 12th Avenue. Through direction by the City <br />Council, the street improvements will consist of a City standard 32' roadway and <br />a separated 8.5' trail. <br />The street reconstruction portion of the project will be funded mostly through <br />Municipal State Aid. Funding will also come from the Trapper's Crossing <br />subdivision which was previously assessed $265,000.00 for the road <br />improvements. Surface Water Management and Trunk funds will complete the <br />funding for this project. The utility extensions will be minimal at this time <br />It is staffs recommendation to authorize the preparation of plans and <br />specifications in the amount of $87,750.00 for the Holly Drive Reconstruction <br />project. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Adopt Resolution No 04 -08, Authorizing the Preparation of Plans and <br />Specifications for the Holly Drive Reconstruction project. <br />2. Retum to staff for further review. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No 1 - Staff recommends that Resolution No 04 -08 be adopted. <br />
