•
•
•
DRAFT 4/5/04
BENCf- mCuARM.
Community
Builder
Collaborative
Communicate Progress
Purpose:
An important part of any project of this magnitude is to understand the important
audience segments and communicate often to each one in a manner most
appropriate to them.
How This Step is Completed:
After a detailed audience analysis is completed, a communications plan is put
into place to make sure all vested parties are communicated to on a frequent
basis. The types of tools that are used in this step include: a dedicated web site
for the project, face -to -face meetings, input to the city's newsletter, direct mail,
council meetings, one -on -one meetings, group meetings and phone calls.
An important aspect of this communication is the opportunity for two -way
dialogue. For example, the web site would be set up to allow people to send in
questions they have and receive a response within a couple of days. If
particularly hot topics were identified through this process, more detailed
communication on the topic could be incorporated into the web site and other
forums to reach out to a broader audience with the information needed to
respond to communication needs.
Who Completes:
Benchmark Community Builder Collaborative
Outcome:
Communication is frequent and ongoing so that all constituents are kept full up-
to -speed on the project.
All Rights Reserved 7
