• • STAFF ORIGINATOR: CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: TOPIC: ACTION REQUIRED: BACKGROUND AGENDA ITEM 6E Michael Grochala October 25, 2004 Consideration of Resolution No. 04 -164 Authorizing Preparation of Plans and Specifications for Legacy at Woods Edge Simple Majority On July 12, 2004 the City Council held a public hearing on the proposed Legacy at Woods Edge public improvements. On October 12, 2004 the City Council approved the Redevelopment Contract with the developer, which in part, provided for the construction of public improvements to service the proposed development and the assessment of the costs of such improvements to the developer. At this time staff is requesting authorization to prepare plans and specifications for street, sanitary sewer, water main, streetscaping /landscaping, storm sewer and street lighting for the improvements within the development as well as improvements to Lake Drive from a point 700 feet south of Town Center Parkway to the northbound I -35W ramps. Short, Elliott, Hendrickson Inc., (SEH), the City's engineering consultant, has prepared a proposal to perform such services for the not to exceed fee of $418,590.00. The proposed project schedule is as follows: City Authorizes Preparation of Plans & Specs Prepare Plans City Orders Improvement and Ad for Bids Receive Bids City Council Awards Bid Project Construction October 25, 2004 October 2004 - January 2005 February 2005 March 2005 April 2005 May- October 2005 A subsequent agreement with SEH covering plans for the remainder of Lake Drive Improvements (ramp realignment and ramp signals) will be brought to the council for consideration at a future date. RECOMMENDATION Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 04 -164. ATTACHMENTS 1. Resolution No. 04 -164
