• <br />Anoka County Multi - Jurisdictional <br />All Hazards Mitigation Plan <br />Real Estate Disclosure is an important issue that facilitates real estate transactions and ensures <br />that both buyers and sellers fully understand any mitigating circumstances associated with <br />properties. <br />Shoreline Ordinances identify and provide for shoreline maintenance and control. Shorelines of <br />waterways including creeks, tributaries, canals, rivers lakes and oceans require continual <br />maintenance to mitigate flooding and provide environmental protection. <br />Site Plans /Subdivision Ordinance is intended to regulate the development of residential, <br />commercial, industrial, or other uses, including public infrastructure, as land is subdivided into <br />lots for future development. Subdivision design that accounts for natural hazards can <br />dramatically reduce the exposure of future development. <br />Wildfire Ordinances are a means to control the potential of wildfire occurrence by requiring burn <br />permits and the reduction of fuel for wildfires in both urban interfaces and forests in general. <br />Zoning Ordinances are the means to control land use by local governments. As part of a <br />community's police power, zoning ordinances are used to protect the public health, safety and <br />welfare of its citizens. Since zoning regulations enable local jurisdictions to limit the type and <br />density of development, it can serve as a powerful tool when applied in identified hazard areas. <br />All Anoka County jurisdictions have zoning ordinances. <br />The legal and regulatory capability summary below defines deficiencies in existing jurisdictional <br />planning and regulatory tools for Anoka County and its municipalities.
