• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM 3B <br />STAFF MEMBER Daniel Tesch, Director of Administration <br />DATE 22 January 2007 <br />SUBJECT Pay Equity Report <br />VOTE REQUIRED 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Minnesota Pay Equity Act was passed by the legislature in 1984. The law was <br />designed to reduce the inequity that was occurring between male and female dominated job <br />classes. Minnesota Rules Chapter 3920 specifies the procedure for measuring and reporting <br />compliance. Every three years, cities are required to conduct an analysis of their pay program to <br />determine compliance with the act. <br />Late last year, the city conducted that analysis with the assistance of Springstead, our <br />labor consultant. The City was found to be in compliance with the Act. <br />The council is required to accept this report, which I will then forward to the Department <br />of Employee Relations. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve the Report <br />2. Not approve the Report. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />One. <br />
