The work engages the viewer viscerally, and calls to be touched; visually it is intriguing and
mysterious. My work is strongly influenced by pre - Columbian Mesoamerican art.
Non - Commissioned Studio Work
2006 Sol Rojo (porphyritic conglomerate, 12" x 6" x 10 "). Private collection, Saint Paul, MN
Commissioned Work/Public Art
2005 Place for three Friends: Granite boulder seating, 12' x 3' x 2.5'.
Contracted by Landscape architect Regina Flanagan to create boulder seating for her Discovery Garden project at
Alpine Park. My responsibilities included: developing estimate of cost, material selection, developing plan for
fitting boulders to existing scheme, designing special seat to be carved on largest boulder and fitting the
boulders together. Aside from the obvious seat carved into one of the boulders, most of the carving is invisible
as it had to do with fitting the stones closely together, I used a torch and water to erase the tool marks and give
the stone surfaces a weathered look. I worked closely with Ramsey City staff on site whose help was most
needed to move the large boulders. Commissioned by the City of Ramsey for Discovery Garden at Alpine Park,
Ramsey Minnesota
2004 Book Benches: Limestone, dimensions variable.
The Wayzata Public Library and citizens of Wayzata commissioned six book - shaped stone benches for their
Children's Reading Garden. I developed perspective drawings and scale models of benches detailing how they
fit within the existing landscape scheme. I executed the sculptures in my workshop and assisted in
transportation and installation, working closely with Wayzata City staff. Wayzata Public Library, Wayzata, MN
