MEMORANDUM
DATE: April 14, 2011
TO: City Council
FROM: Michael Grochala, Community Development Director
RE: City Engineering Services
Interviews — April 18, 2011
Interviews for City Engineering services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 beginning at
6:00 in the Community Room. The schedule is as follows:
6:00 SEH
7:00 WSB
8:00 TKDA
The firms will be allowed approximately 15 minutes for a presentation to be followed by a
question and answer period. A list of questions has been prepared and is enclosed.
Each of the firms recommended for interview are full services firms and are well qualified to
provide the services requested by the city. Enclosed are copies of each firm's proposal.
Each firm has taken a slightly different approach to compensation. I should note that the
proposals are not readily comparable. TKDA has proposed standard hourly rates for all services.
SEH has proposed a "City Engineer" hourly rate and a standard hourly rate based on specific
services. WSB has proposed a "Retainer" for predetermined general services and a standard
hourly rate for additional projects. The WSB retainer fee is not all inclusive of engineering
requirements and should not be considered a "total" fee for engineering services.
Each of the proposals are open for discussion and negotiation should the council determine a
preferred firm.
Enclosures
Engineering Interview Questions
Engineering Proposals
Request for Proposal Document
