Basis for Compensation
Our primary goal in serving you is to provide superior service at a fair price. Hourly rates are just
one factor in the total cost of services and more importantly, the value that you receive.
Sometimes artificially low rates mean that less experienced staff provide most of the service while
spending more hours, or billing for every minute, phone conversation and meeting, resulting in
higher total costs.
When reviewing our hourly rates, you will find them to be fair and comparable with similarly
qualified firms. We propose the following:
SEH Hourly Billable Rates
Principal /City Engineer
$120
$140
Assistant City Engineer
$95
$110
Project Manager
$95 -145
Project Engineer /Architect/
Planner /Scientist
$80 -125
Lead Technician
$90-115
Staff Engineer /Architect/Planner /
Scientist
$70 -105
Senior Technician
$75 -105
Survey Party Chief
$65 -95
Technician
$50 -80
Survey Assistant
$40 -70
Associate Technician
$45 -70
Office /Administrative
$45 -70
Effective: January 1, 2011
Expires: December 31, 2011
Other Fees and /or Charges
• Because general City engineering services (non - project work) are usually funded by your
General Fund, we have reduced our standard billable rates for the City Engineer and Assistant
City Engineer for these services. This type of work includes providing regular City Hall office
hours, attending regular meetings with staff, managing your stormwater system, coordinating
with developers, administering the Municipal State Aid street system, certificate of survey
reviews, and updating your CIP and GASB annual asset inventory.
• In order to provide more value for you, we will provide the following at no charge:
— Attendance at your regular City Council meetings.
— All work involved with the transition from your current Engineer, including attending City
staff meetings and reviewing your policies, procedures and practices.
— Routine phone calls.
basis for compensation 1 page 1
