Conventional thought says
that you now have to get by with less. At WSB, we believe that it is time to do things differently. We have found a way
to develop honest relationships and deliver engineering services in a cost effective, thoughtful, and project driven
manner. In fact, we were recently asked how we are different than other engineers. We would answer that question
like this:
• Our City Engineering client relationships, service areas provided, and our staff numbers are growing.
WSB has added five new City/Township Engineering client relationships over the past two years. Additionally,
at the request of some of our clients last year, we added Community Planning and Environmental and
Stormwater Compliance services to our list of expertise. Even though the recent economic downturn has
caused most of our competitors to cut staff and reduce services, we have been growing!
• We deliver funding to leverage city dollars.
We understand that in order to be an effective City Engineer, we need to bring funding with us to the
communities that we serve. From $1.5 million for a water reuse facility in St. Anthony to $9.2 million in SaM
funding for an interchange in Rogers, to water system and park funding, we have been successful at doing just
that. WSB is the engineer for three transportation corridor advocacy organizations (TH 169,1-94, TH 23) and
we regularly advocate for projects in our communities at the State Legislature and in Washington DC. A list of
some of WSB's funding successes is shown on page 22.
• We understand how to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.
We are creative in finding solutions with a "can do" attitude. Our approach to developing projects focuses on
_ determining how a project or a task can be completed, as opposed to why it can't be done. We are confident
that our municipal client references can attest to this approach, and to the high quality results of our mutually
beneficial relationships.
• We serve numerous municipal clients and maintain many direct City Engineering relationships.
As you will see on page 13 of the proposal, we serve more than 50 municipal clients in the metro area, 21 of
them as the City/Township Engineer. We have two City Engineering Clients that work with WSB as their in-
house staff similar to the City of Lino Lakes' current consultant relationship (Rosemount and Champlin). We
are able to utilize this base of knowledge and expertise to provide new and creative solutions for municipal
projects in the City of Lino Lakes.
• Municipal engineering is our primary business.
75% - 80% of our business is derived through our municipal client base. Although we have expertise in all of
the engineering disciplines that will be required by the City's infrastructure projects, our core business and our
strong reputation is as a City Engineering firm.
Minneapolis 1 St. Cloud
Equal Opportunity Employer
