a. Status: The updating of the Comprehensive Plan process is <br />underway. <br />b. Things to be considered for future goals: <br />• Infrastructure planning especially to existing <br />neighborhoods <br />• Completion and approval of the updated Comp Plan <br />and related charter considerations <br />• Developing City's plans for the future to serve growing <br />and existing areas especially with sewer and water <br />capacity <br />• Establish a process to achieve the timely approval of <br />the Updated Comprehensive Plan. <br />6. Goal: Diversify, expand, and enhance the City's tax base. <br />a. Status: Specific recommendations were provided to the <br />City Council and the community in the SPOTLIGHT 2030 <br />Vision Plan. <br />b. Items to be considered for future goals: <br />• Proactive Economic Development Program <br />• Proactive marketing of the City's Economic <br />Development Program and opportunities <br />• Timing of economic development being sensitive to the <br />impact of competition from surrounding cities such as <br />Blaine and Hugo <br />• Develop a process for working with developers to <br />expedite /facilitate approved economic development <br />projects. <br />7. Goal: Establish an appropriate revenue generation and allocation <br />policy for the City. <br />a. Status: A comprehensive workshop pertaining to the City's <br />future financial needs was presented by the management <br />team to the council in 2006. <br />b. Items to be considered for future goals: <br />• Funding of maintenance needs <br />• Keeping the Five -Year Financial Plan current on an <br />annual basis <br />
