This citizen- driven plan outlines policies <br />and guidelines intended to implement the citizens' 2030 <br />Vision Plan. Cities are required to submit a Comprehensive <br />Plan to the Metropolitan Council every 10 years. See Page 3 <br />for the latest information and visit the city website at <br />wwwciiino-lakes.mn.us for continuous updates. <br />Lino Lakes volunteers monitor aquatic invertebrates <br />(bugs) in Hardwood Creek within the Rice Creek <br />Watershed District as pan of a Stream Health Evalua- <br />tion Program (SHEP). These volunteers received training <br />in both field and lab work to provide valuable data that <br />regulatory agencies can use to appraise water quality. <br />Road <br />Construction <br />Ahead <br />See Page 8 for details. <br />S P Q, T, L I G H T ON <br />City is award finalist <br />for Green Development <br />Minnesota Environmental Initiative annually <br />honors innovative projects that have achieved <br />extraordinary environmental outcomes by <br />harnessing the power of partnerships. The City <br />of Lino I -akes is a finalist in the 2007 awards <br />competition in the category of Green Building <br />and Development for its proactive, citizen - <br />driven environmental review process of the <br />I -35E Corridor. The Alternative Urban <br />Areawide Review (AUAR) assessed the impact <br />of development on sensitive natural resource <br />areas and provided a mitigation plan for pro- <br />tecting these areas, as well as documenting and <br />planning for infrastructure needs and improve- <br />ments.
