• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM 3 A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Daniel Tesch, Director of Administration <br />MEETING DATE: 28 December 2009 <br />TOPIC: City of Lino Lakes and Local 49 <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The collective bargaining agreement between the City and Local 49 (public works) <br />expires 31 December 2009. We have negotiated a tentative agreement for 2010 which <br />extends the provisions in the existing contract with the following adjustments: <br />• No cost of living adjustment for 2010 <br />• 80 hours of unpaid furlough <br />• An increase of 20 hours of comp. time that may be accumulated in a year <br />• Training language regarding the local 49 training center <br />• The addition of mediation as a step in dispute resolution <br />In consideration of employee concessions towards 2010 budget relief, the union has <br />included a clause that no additional layoffs take place within this unit in 2010. <br />Everyone realizes that uncertainties loom for 2011. This is therefore a one year <br />agreement. <br />Local 49 will be voting on this proposal on 28 December. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the attached draft Memorandum of Understanding. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Memorandum of Understanding. <br />
